Goal: Welcomes participants to the Marine Corps.
- Each participant is given a notebook full of information for further reference as they follow through their training.
- The mentor addresses guidelines for the session and gives logistical information. The mentor also presents a course outline on topics covered during the session.
- L.I.N.K.S. is a participants' program, therefore the participants are encouraged to ask questions and share stories.
- Lifestyle Insights, Networking, Knowledge, and Skills is explained and how it will relate to each participant.
- "Intro Aside" - Group is divided into pairs. They interview each other and present their new friend to the class. Everyone begins to relax.
End Goal: Participants begin to network, are now familiar with each other, fostering more participation over the course of the session.

| The Corps |

Goal: Give a better understanding of the organization, mission, culture, history and traditions of the Corps.
- Organization of Department of Defense and the United States Marine Corps - Our role as part of the Department of the Navy, and how the Marine Corps fits into the overall defense picture.
- USMC units and ranks, chain of command, and jobs specialties of Marines.
- Marine Corps Mission-911 force.
- Marine Corps Values: Honor, Courage, Commitment
- History and Traditions-discuss various social functions, their traditions and social etiquette/protocol.
End Goal: Participants are now more familiar with the "big picture" of the Marine Corps and how they fit into the picture with their Marine.

| Getting Through The Maze |

Goal: Give a better understanding of the service and benefits that are available to military family members.
- Introduce the "What's Next" book
- ID card
- DEERS (Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System
- Commissary
- Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) and all included programs
- New Parent Support Program
- Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP)
- Briefly touch on medical benefits, Tricare, and United Concordia
- Base Legal, Public Affairs Office (PAO), Provost Marshals Office (PMO), and programs offered by the Chaplains on base
- Navy Marine Corps Relief Society and American Red Cross services
End Goal: Participants are aware of what is available to them and how to access these services. |
