Objectives of the Class:
- Appropriate dietary intake during pregnancy of important nutrients
- Appropriate weight gains during pregnancy
- Precautions during pregnancy
- Nutrition during lactation

Programs:
Choose to Lose
Overview:
- Weight loss support group. Meet once a week for one hour. Participants weigh in each week. First half of class is a nutrition education session as well as a support group discussion. Second half of class is devoted to exercise. A Certified Exercise Specialist teaches exercises that can be used in every day life, as well as exercises that can be done at home.
National Nutrition Month
Overview:
- Promotes healthful eating by providing practical nutrition guidance and focusing attention on making informed food choices and developing sound physical activity habits.
- Program runs for one week in the month of March.
- Educational materials are distributed and tables are set up throughout base.
Nutrition Outreach:
Dietitian on Deck:
On the 1st Wednesday of every other month the dietitian sets up a nutrition table on the fitness deck for 6-hour period of time. During this time the dietitian is available to answer any nutrition questions the patrons may have and also hands out nutrition information.
Child Development Center:
Dietitian reviews the items every month to approve of the items listed on the menu and make sure they meet USDA standards.
Crews into Shape:
Program takes place every March. This is an employee health program where participants form teams and register online. No weigh in is required.
The program is designed to promote healthy eating and exercise.
