    The outdoor recreation & equipment rental programs provide a variety of equipment on a daily, weekend or weekly basis. Available items include standup paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, mountain bikes, recreational sports equipment, event canopies, camping equipment, and more.

    Availability of items will vary, so please call to confirm the availability.

     

    Instructional classes to look for:

    Learn 2 Kayak- Come learn basic kayaking techniques in a small class that provides individual attention and allows you to progress at your own pace. Ages 12+ for any of the lessons.

    Intro to SUP-  Learn proper technique and safety tips for stand-up paddle boarding in a small class that provides individual attention and allows you to progress at your own pace.  Ages 12+ for any of the lessons.

    Archery- This class covers safety, and the basic fundamentals of Archery.  Equipment is provided in a small class setting that provides individual attention. Classes are provided for 8-16 and 17+. 

    Wilderness and Remote First Aid- This American Red Cross course will provide you with basic lifesaving skills when medical help isn’t readily available. The course is a total of 16 hours and is open to anyone 14+ years of age with a valid Adult CPR/AED certification.

    Kids and Camping- We love kids and we love camping.  We want to make sure you have the best experience possible when introducing camping to your family.  This 2-hour course will get your kiddos (and you!) excited about camping.  We will even teach them how to make their own campfire dinner.

    *Various sunset paddles and instructional classes will be posted throughout the summer and fall. Check back often!

    Upcoming Trips:

    Mommy (or Daddy) and Me Hikes- Take the littles on an exploratory hike in our own backyard.  This hike is best suited for ages 3-8 and parents must hike with their kids.  Starting and ending at CDC North we take a 1/2 mile hike through our trail system and discover what is out there. 

    Ghost Fleet Kayaking Tour- Join us on this Fall excursion across the Potomac and discover a part of WWI history you never knew about.  The trip will last about 6 hours and you must be able to paddle a long distance.  We will stop for lunch on the Maryland side. Ages 18+ may participate keeping in mind their kayaking ability. 

    Various Day Hiking- Our hiking trips vary by locations and seasons.  We tend to focus our hikes in Shenandoah and will focus on vista views, waterfalls, streams or historical markers.
